Family Law - Divorce, Child Support, Custody, Separation

Family law regulates the legal relationships of people who are connected to each other by marriage, civil unions, family and relations, or where there is a custodianship, trusteeship or legal guardianship in place. With the complicated circumstances common to this area, it is highly recommended to seek advice from an attorney. Are you having legal issues regarding marriage, adoption, divorce or seeking custody of your children? Much of the practice is focused on family law, so you will be guided through the challenges you face no matter what they are.

Divorce is certainly something that we all hope to avoid. However, sometimes it is the only reasonable option. If you have made that difficult decision, or have been served with paperwork by your partner, remember that you have rights under the law - including an equitable distribution of the marital property. The Law Office of Gina M. Cummings can help to ensure that in the event of a divorce, your legal rights remain secure.

In May of 2009, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts permitted the use of Limited Assistance Representation (LAR).  The Family and Probate Courts of Massachusetts adopted LAR shortly thereafter.  In its simplest terms, LAR allows clients to hire attorneys "al la carte" for family court litigation.  Clients can hire counsel on an as needed basis to represent them during only one, or several phases of their family court case.  Ask us about our LAR fee agreements.
